Clock Tower is a third-person horror adventure game, originally released in 1995 for Super Nintendo, and two years later, in 1997, for Windows. Neither version ever made it further than Japan and, as a result, the game was never officially translated. This is the PC version, with an English translation patch, which makes it much more accessible.
Unzip and start playing instantly
Clock Tower doesn't need to be installed before you can play. Just unzip the contents of the compressed file in a folder and double-click on the executable. That's it. The ReadMe file that accompanies the game contains part of the history of this port and its translation.
No full screen
One of the drawbacks of this PC version is that it cannot be set to full screen. The developer of the patch actually recommends in the aforementioned ReadMe to play other versions (such as the Super Nintendo or PlayStation version), which offer a better experience. However, this Windows version, which only takes up 12MB of memory space, is also an excellent way to play it.
A classic point and click adventure
Although many think of the original Clock Tower as action-packed, the truth is that it is primarily a graphic adventure game. The only difference with respect to other classics of the genre, of course, is that here you will have a madman with giant scissors chasing you through all the settings. And, if he catches up to you and you don't manage to escape, the game will be over. So, as well as having to solve some puzzles, you'll have to hide from this creature too.
Nine different endings
Clock Tower has nine different possible endings, which can be seen depending on what you do during the game. The adventure's central character is the orphan Jennifer Simpson, but throughout the story you have the opportunity to prevent the deaths of some of the other orphans who have accompanied you to Simon Barrows' mansion. Depending on who dies and who survives, you will see a different ending.
A horror classic for PC
Download Clock Tower and enjoy one of the greatest horror adventures of the 1990s. Thanks to this version of the game, now patched in English, you can simply unzip and start playing. An outstanding title that, despite the passage of time, is still as terrifying as the first day it was released.
